The following is the step by step procedures to uninstall the EZ-BIOS

Ensure that the system's BIOS can translate the full capacity of the hard
drive.

it.

Replace the diskette with the MaxBlast 1.0 diskette, and typeDG TEXT.

BIOS is not set correctly. Adjust the system BIOS and restart the
MaxBlast un installation procedure. If the warning box does not appear,
proceed to step 8.

Press the "Y" key and press the [Enter] key to disable EZ-BIOS control.
Highlight the "Exit - Save Changes" option press the [Enter] key. The
will return the user to EZDRIVE Main Menu.

! WARNING !

At this point, it's important to note that the LBA translation provided
by EZ-BIOS is NOT always compatible with the hardware solution's IDE
translation (commonly called LBA Mode, or Logical Block Addressing Mode).
This means that the new hardware solution may be able to correctly handle
the hard drive just fine.

However, since the hard drive was formatted using MaxBlast 1.0, the LBA
Mode may be slightly different possibly enough to crash the system. This
is not to say that MaxBlast 1.0 specially formatted the hard drive, but
that the LBA Mode used by EZ-BIOS may be different from the LBA Mode used
by the new hardware solution.

The following will test whether the EZ-BIOS LBA Mode is Compatible with
the new, hardware solution's LBA Mode:

Boot the system to a DOS Utility Diskette NOTE: Maxtor recommends using
either a MS-DOS Setup Disk 1, Windows 95 or Windows 98 Startup Disk.

At the "Welcome to Setup" screen, press the [F3] function key twice. This
will take the user to the A: prompt.

At the A: prompt, type "SCANDISK x: /SURFACE" (where x: is the drive
letter of the last Partition on the Drive, or C: if there is only one
Partition) and press the [Enter] key. The SCANDISK utility will perform
some basic tests on the selected partition and then perform a surface scan.
This will determine if the hard drive is fully accessible by the system
BIOS.

IF SCANDISK FINDS AN ERROR, DO NOT FIX IT! FIXING AN ERROR IN A DIFFERENT
LBA MODE WILL IRREVERSIBLY CORRUPT THE DRIVE!
An error in SCANDISK indicates that the Hardware Solution is not
compatible with the EZ-BIOS LBA Mode. Users will need to exit SCANDISK,
insert the MaxBlast 1.x diskette and run DG TEXT and change the "Controlled by EZ-BIOS"
option back to ENABLED.

If SCANDISK found no errors, continue removing the EZ-BIOS. Essentially,
EZ-BIOS has been deactivated.
A boot banner still appears, but EZ-BIOS does not remain in memory. This
means that the hardware solution is now in full control.

Part Two: Uninstalling the EZ-BIOS

Boot the system from the MaxBlast 1.x Diskette and run DG TEXT.
From the Main Menu, select "Advanced Options" and press the [Enter] key.
At this point, the Advanced Options sub-menu will appear.
Select the "EZ-BIOS Setup" option and press the [Enter] key. If
necessary, select the appropriate hard drive.
Highlight the "Uninstall EZ-BIOS" option and press the [Enter] key.
MaxBlast then prompts the user with:

"Be absolutely sure that your BIOS can access all of your drives correctly before
uninstalling EZ-BIOS"

"Press Y if you REALLY want to uninstall EZ-BIOS" "Press Esc to cancel
uninstalling EZ-BIOS"

Type "Y" and press the [Enter] key to uninstall the EZ-BIOS. At this
point the EZ- BIOS has been removed from the selected hard drive.

Highlight "Exit This Menu" from the Advanced Options Menu and press the
[Enter] key. This will take the user to the EZ-DRIVE Main Menu.
Remove the MaxBlast diskette and reboot the system. The system is now
under the complete control of the new, hardware solution.
