Award BIOS asks for password at bootup. Can I remove it?

Back to Table of Contents

Find and use the clear CMOS jumper on the motherboard. Some
motherboards have a "Clear CMOS" or a "Remove Password" jumper near
the RealTime Clock and, when activated, will erase the original BIOS
data. Please see your motherboard owner's manual for further
assistance.

With your original BIOS installed in the computer, download the CLRCMOS
program from the Unicore website: www.unicore.com, and run it on your
computer.

This program can be run 2 ways:

- You can boot the system to a command prompt and run the program from the A: prompt.

- You can run the program through Windows, by clicking on the file.

The program will be completed within 3-5 seconds. After it is finished.
You can restart the computer, the password will now be removed.

A third alternative would be to umplug the computer, remove the system
battery, and allow the system to sit at least 8 hours. this usually has
the same effect as using the clear CMOS jumper.
